What is an IPL?
It is a type of non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses a broad spectrum of light to target various skin concerns, such as hyperpigmentation, sun damage, age spots, and vascular lesions. IPL treatments are also commonly used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture and tone, and promote collagen production.
During an IPL treatment, a handheld device is used to deliver pulses of light to the skin. The light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the skin, causing it to break up and fade over time. IPL treatments are typically performed in a series of sessions, spaced several weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.
IPL is a safe and effective treatment for most skin types and can be performed on the face, neck, chest, and hands. It is often considered a gentler alternative to more invasive skin resurfacing treatments, such as laser therapy, as there is minimal downtime and discomfort associated with the procedure.
Am I A Good Candidate?
People who are in good physical health and do not have any underlying health conditions that could affect healing are generally considered suitable candidates. Although IPL is noninvasive and considered relatively safe, the following patients should not consider intense pulsed light: Patients with tanned skin. Patients currently taking Accutane or a similar acne treatment and patients with severe cases of acne or other skin conditions.
